ELECO 2025 Best Student Paper Award


 

Student participation is encouraged to increase the interest of young researchers to ELECO activities. Therefore, the ELECO 2025 Best Student Paper Awards will be awarded to the authors of the best student papers.

The conditions to participate in the contest are that the paper should be authored or co-authored by a graduate or undergraduate student, who has had a major contribution to the paper and who will present the paper at the conference.

ELECO 2025 - IEEE CASS Turkiye Best Paper Awards


IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Turkiye Chapter

 

IEEE CASS Turkey will award the best paper award to two papers presented at ELECO 2025:

  1. IEEE CASS Turkiye will grant an award to the best paper in the field of Circuits and Systems at the ELECO 2025 Conference.

  2. IEEE CASS Turkiye will grant an award to the paper whose first author and presenter is a woman at the ELECO 2025 Conference.

in the field of High Voltage Engineering in Memory of Hasbi Ismailoglu



 

In memory of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasbi Ismailoglu, who high voltage expert and passed away recently,
Hasbi Ismailoglu - Best Paper Award
will be given to a paper selected from among the papers presented in the High Voltage Engineering session at the ELECO 2025 Conference.

 
Assoc. Prof. Hasbi Ismailoglu
(1960-October 6, 2025)

 

Dr. Hasbi Ismailoglu was born in Yenipazar in 1960. He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 1984, 1988, and 1996, respectively.

Ismailoglu worked as a research assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University from 1986 to 1998. He then served as an assistant professor and later as an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of Kocaeli University from 1998 until 2023. In 2023, he became an associate professor in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Yalova University where he continued to work until his passing.

His research interests included high voltage engineering, discharge phenomena, lightning, overvoltage protection, and grounding.

Dr. Ismailoglu has made significant contributions throughout his academic career by teaching several undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising MSc and PhD students. He also played a key role in establishing and equipping High Voltage Laboratories, as well as in conducting experimental studies and training courses at various institutions where he has worked. His efforts have positioned him as one of Turkey's leading experts in high-voltage engineering. Additionally, he has taken on administrative responsibilities at these institutions.

Dr. Ismailoglu also contributed to the ELECO Conferences in various roles, including as an author, scientific committee member, reviewer, and session chair.

Lastly, throughout all these professional and academic activities, he has earned the affection of his colleagues, students, and relevant individuals in the electromechanical industry with his extremely kind, hardworking, and cooperative nature.
