R. Nejat TUNCAY was born in 1947 in Izmir. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1972 at İstanbul Technical University (ITU). He received his PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (1977). He served as Assistant Professor, Associate professor (1982) and Professor (1988) in Department of Electrical Engineering at ITU. In 2002 he retired and founded a research company called MEKATRO. He was chairman of Energy Panel of Vision 2023 programme of TUBITAK. He joined Okan University in 2008 and served as dean of Engineering Faculty until 2016. He is currently head of Energy Department there.His research areas are; power electronics, electric vehicle drive systems, power system harmonics and power quality, battery diagnostics and management systems, intelligent & autonomous vehicles. During his academic life he worked with the R&D departments of KONDAŞ, ARÇELİK, EKA, SENUR and TOFAŞ. He is co-author of over 100 conference and journal papers.
